The London Fryer has been proudly serving the local community in Paignton since 1982, when the shop first opened its doors on Seaway Road in Preston. What started as a traditional fish and chip shop quickly became a local favourite, known for quality food, generous portions and friendly service.
Today, the business is run by husband and wife Roy and Louise Abbott AND THEIR CHILDREN AND PARTNERS.  continuing the family tradition and welcoming both loyal regulars and new visitors through the doors every day. With over 37 years of experience in the fish and chip trade, the team have refined their menu over time while staying true to the classic British fish and chips people know and love.
Back when the shop first opened, one of the earliest promotions advertised in the Herald Express offered cod and chips for just 30p — a sign of how much times have changed. The real price at the time should have been 68p, but the offer helped introduce the shop to the community and build a loyal customer base that continues today.
Over the decades, The London Fryer has grown into a well-known local spot for traditional fish and chips, fresh seafood, and comforting classics. While the menu has expanded over the years, the core values have always stayed the same: fresh ingredients, proper cooking, and warm, friendly service.
More than four decades later, The London Fryer remains a proud family-run business, still serving the same community and visitors to the English Riviera with the same passion for great food.

Meet The Family
At The London Fryer, family has always been at the heart of everything we do. What started as a traditional fish and chip shop has grown into a true family-run business, with several generations involved in keeping the tradition alive.
The business is proudly run by Roy and Louise Abbott, whose passion and dedication have helped The London Fryer become a well-known and much-loved part of the local community. With decades of experience in the fish and chip trade, Roy’s knowledge and commitment to quality are at the centre of everything we serve.
Working alongside them are their children and extended family, each playing their part in the day-to-day running of the shop.
For us, The London Fryer is more than just a fish and chip shop — it’s a family effort built on hard work, pride in what we do, and a shared passion for serving great food to our community.
We’re incredibly proud to be a family business and are grateful for the continued support from our wonderful customers who have been part of our journey over the years.
